After three years of absence due to Covid 19 restrictions we are now continuing with The Serbian Film Festival. This year marks 20th anniversary of the Serbian Film Festival in Australia and is dedicated to its long-time Director late Mr Petar Kozlina AOM.
As the director of the Serbian Film Festival from 2003 until his death in 2020, he worked tirelessly each year to organise this event, which for 20 years provided the opportunity for members of the Serbian Community and wider Australian audience, to follow contemporary events in the world of cinema and Serbian culture in general.
In addition to Serbian Film Festival, Petar was also involved with Serbian Theatre Nights both which attracted many of the Serbian well known film and theatre artists.
He was also the initiator of the Serbian Festival in Sydney’s Darling harbour launched in 2012, one of his projects in the field of culture.
In 2019 Petar received the Order of Australian Medal for his services to the Serbian community of Australia and ten years earlier in 2009 the Serbian Orthodox Church honoured Petar and his wife Milica for their dedicated work and immeasurable contribution to the Serbian community with Order of St Sava, II Order.
Like in the previous years the Festival is bringing the latest films from Serbia to Hoyts Cinemas across Australia from 16th to 26 March, with screenings in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
Over the past 19 years, audiences throughout Australia have viewed over 150 Serbian feature and documentary films selected by the Belgrade-based film critic, director and producer, Mr Nenad Dukic.
